Outdoor Space Builders has its roots in an unlikely partnership between a graphic artist and a chef. Co-founders Don and Joe both found themselves at a crossroads, unfulfilled by their careers and yearning for something different. They shared a common dream: to work outside, with their hands, creating something tangible and lasting.
Together, they launched a home remodeling business, learning the trades and honing their craftsmanship on projects throughout Connecticut. But it was outdoor construction that truly captured their passion. As they like to say, “We started building decks when it wasn't cool”.

When the world changed during lockdown, Don and Joe noticed something remarkable. Suddenly, everyone wanted outdoor spaces. Families rediscovered their backyards, and homeowners began dreaming of decks, patios, pergolas, and outdoor kitchens that could serve as extensions of their homes.
Don and Joe saw the opportunity clearly. They also recognized a gap in the market: homeowners deserved access to high-quality, specialized outdoor living builders who focused exclusively on creating exceptional outdoor spaces. That realization led them to pivot entirely, transforming from general remodelers into dedicated outdoor living specialists.
